How To Download Ayushman Card? Know Scheme Benefits, Coverage And More

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), popularly known as the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, is India’s flagship public health insurance and welfare scheme. The scheme was launched in 2018 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

PM-JAY is a Govt. of India-funded healthcare and insurance scheme for the citizens of India. The scheme is the world’s largest health assurance scheme that aims to provide cashless health coverage. PM-JAY offers cashless coverage of up to ₹ 5,00,000 per year to eligible persons for certain secondary and tertiary care conditions. This scheme offers financial help to low-income families in network private and public hospitals.

Ayushman Bharat Yojana covers all fees spent for the following therapy components:

  • Medical examination, treatment and consultation
  • Pre-hospitalization
  • Medicines and Medical Consumables
  • Non-intensive and intensive care services
  • Clinical and laboratory investigations
  • Medical transplant services (where necessary)
  • Housing benefit
  • Food Services
  • Complications that may arise during treatment
  • Follow-up care for 15 days after hospitalisation

Ayushman Card

The Ayushman Card is a key document in the process of availing the benefits of the scheme. With the Ayushman Bharat Card, you can avail the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance. The insurance covers hospital stays, post-hospital stays, pre-hospital stays, and other healthcare services mentioned above. Regardless of family size, age, and gender.

The National Health Authority (NHA), the highest authority, is responsible for issuing and managing the Ayushman Bharat Card and overseeing its implementation across India.  India’s public and private hospital networks are accessible through the scheme. These network hospitals will accept your Ayushman Card for cashless medical care and hospitalisation.

Here is how you can download (if eligible) the Ayushman Bharat Card:

Step 01: Visit https://www.pmjay.gov.in, the official portal of the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

Step 02: On the top of the homepage, click on the ‘Am I Eligible’ option.

Step 03: You will be redirected to a new page. Now, enter your mobile number, which is linked to your Ayushman Bharat account.

Step 04: If your name is on the beneficiary list, you will receive an OPT on your linked mobile number. Enter the received OTP to confirm your identity.

Step 05: Once your identity is confirmed, you will be redirected to a new page where you can download your Ayushman Bharat Card.

Step 06: A ‘Download Card’ option will be provided on the screen.

Step 07: Now, click on the ‘Download Card’ option to download your Ayushman Bharat Card in PDF format.

For the future course of action, it is advised to print out the card and carry it to healthcare centres/hospitals for medical treatment purposes.
