The decision is part of UIDAI’s attempts to improve the accuracy and security of Aadhaar data, especially for cards that are ten years old. People are advised to take advantage of this chance before the window closes, as the deadline is quickly approaching.

With the deadline extension, you can now conveniently update your demographic information, such as name, address, date of birth/age, gender, mobile number, email address, relationship status, information sharing consent, and more, online for free. However, it’s important to note that updating details at an Aadhaar Center will entail applicable fees.

Utilizing this complimentary update service is easy to do and may be done via the official UIDAI website. Follow the below-mentioned steps to update your Aadhaar Card online for free:

Step 1: Visit the myAadhaar portal at Uidai.gov.in and choose your preferred language.

Step 2: Navigate to the ‘Document Update‘ section under the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab.

Step 3: You will be redirected to the Aadhaar login page.

Step 4: Fill in your Aadhaar number and Captcha.

Step 5: An OTP will be sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number; enter it and click login.

Step 6: Select and fill in the details you wish to update. Make sure you enter accurate information.

Step 7: Upload the necessary proof of identity and proof of address documents and click on ‘Submit’ tab.

Step 8: Click the ‘Submit Update Request’ button. During this, you will receive an Update Request Number (URN) via SMS on your registered mobile number, which you can use to track the status of your request.

Step 6: Submit your request and note down the Service Request Number (SRN) for tracking purposes.

Once this process is completed, you may anticipate having your updated Aadhaar Card within seven working days.
